These terms apply to the PixelHunter Translate plugin, the license and translation service behind it, and the website pixelhuntertranslate.com. By starting the free trial, buying a plan, or installing or using the plugin, you agree to them. If you accept them on behalf of a company, they apply to that company.
Who we are
PixelHunter Translate is made by PixelHunter, based in Porto, Portugal (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at [email protected].
Purchases and payment
Orders are processed by Polar, our merchant of record. Polar sells you the subscription, takes the payment, handles VAT and sales tax, and issues the invoice. Polar’s own terms apply to the payment.
Prices are in US dollars. In the EU you pay the same amount in euros, VAT included; elsewhere, any sales tax is added at checkout. Current prices are on our pricing section.
Plans, characters and sites
- Each plan includes a number of characters, per month or per year, and a maximum number of sites. On yearly plans, the characters for the whole year are credited at the start.
- Every character of the original text counts once per target language. Only new or edited text is sent: text already translated is not charged again, and visits to your site never use characters.
- Unused characters roll over to the next period while the subscription is active. They are lost when it ends.
- A license key activates on each site that uses it, up to the plan’s limit, and staging copies count as sites. Sites on the same key share its characters.
- When the balance reaches zero, automatic translation pauses until the next period or a plan change. Nothing already translated is affected.
The details are in License, plans and updates.
Free trial
The free trial gives 30,000 characters once, for one site, with no card and no subscription. It needs a real email address, and there is one trial per site. We may refuse or revoke trials that try to get around these limits, for example with disposable email addresses or repeated sign-ups.
We may change or withdraw the free trial at any time, without notice. Trials already activated keep the characters and conditions they started with; once the trial is withdrawn, new ones are no longer available.
Your license to use the plugin
The plugin is licensed, not sold. While your license is valid, you may install and use it on as many sites as your plan allows. This right is non-exclusive and cannot be transferred. You may not:
- share, publish or resell your license key, or use it on more sites than your plan allows;
- redistribute, sell or sublicense the plugin or modified copies of it;
- bypass or tamper with the license checks, the character balance or the update signatures;
- use the service in a way that harms it or other customers, or to translate unlawful content.
Renewals, plan changes and cancellation
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly or yearly period until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time in My account. Your key keeps working until the end of the period you paid for.
- To change plan, use My account → Subscriptions → Change plan. Each plan has its own key: the new one arrives by email and the old one stops within the hour.
- If we change our prices, we tell you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies to your subscription, so you can cancel before then.
Refunds and right of withdrawal
If something is not right, write to [email protected] from the email you used at checkout and we will look at your case. Refunds cover the characters you have not used. A refund, in full or in part, ends the subscription, and the license key stops working within the hour. We may refuse a refund once the characters have been used, except where the law gives you a right to one.
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may have a legal right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 days. That right may end, or the refund may be reduced in proportion, once the service has started with your consent, as the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer.
When a subscription ends
Your translations are yours and stay on your site. Pages already translated, the language URLs, the language switcher and WooCommerce keep working, and you can still translate by hand in the plugin. Automatic translation, new versions of the plugin and any characters left stop. Subscribe again at any time and they come back right away.
Your content and the translations
- You keep all rights to your content and to the translations produced for you.
- You are responsible for having the right to translate the content you send and for keeping it lawful. We use it only to produce the translations, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Translations are generated automatically by a translation API and may contain mistakes. Review important texts, such as legal, medical, safety or pricing information, before you rely on them.
Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep the service running, but we cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. Your translations are served from files on your own site, so if our service is down your translated pages stay online; only new translations are delayed. We may improve, change or retire features, and we give reasonable notice before any change that significantly reduces what you paid for.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or revoke a license key, with notice where reasonable, if it is used in breach of these terms, shared publicly, involved in fraud or a payment dispute, or used in a way that puts the service at risk. You can stop using the plugin at any time.
Liability
The plugin and the service are provided “as is”. Keep backups of your site before installing or updating any plugin. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, revenue or data, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it arose.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any other liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including your rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the current version. If a change significantly affects you, we tell active customers by email before it applies, and you can cancel before then if you do not agree.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Portuguese law, and the courts of Porto have jurisdiction. This does not take away a consumer’s right to go to the courts where they live or to rely on the mandatory rules of their own country.
If you are a consumer, you can also turn to an alternative dispute resolution entity. The list is available at consumidor.gov.pt.
